Magic Island – Wonderful House

After 2 years of planning and dreaming the Eleuthera in the Bahamas, my wife and I have found the opportunity to spend nearly a week on this magic island.

And when it’s time to find a place to stay there, definitely consider this house as one of the best options.

We had:

  • a warm welcome in Nassau airport directly from the owner, who offered us a drink while giving some directions on the island and the property and a lift between the terminals on the way back;
  • a great location in the middle of the island. This will allow you to comfortably visit both the northern and the southern beaches and attractions;
  • a newly built and clean property with all you can need and more: 2 beach umbrellas, beah chairs, all the best appliances, clear indications on how to use everything, a wonderful gas bbq, etc, etc;
  • a terrace with a magnificent view;
  • breeze during the hot days;

If you really have to find out a minus, I must say that the house is not on the beach (5 min walk however), but that also means no rust, no sand and no broken wood!

We also must thanks Michelle, the property manager, smart and always helpful in supporting the few request we made.

Definitely to do:

  • beach hopping: so many white and pink sand beahes, miles long, all for you alone…
  • buy fish in Tarpum Bay quay from 3pm on: you’ll find local fisherman with fresh giant red snappers, groupers, conch and more, to gratify you with the bbq at home
  • have a dinner (or lunch or a snack) at Michelle restaurant, the Beach House. We won’t spoil the opportunity fo you to judge both the food and the location…
  • find out local fairs and celebrations, so to mix with the people who is always warm and open to conversation
  • snorkeling on the Caribbean side, but be aware you could see sharks… so don’t panic and prepare your camera!

Warmly advised: try to pick up a good and recent car from the local renters (no Hert, Avis, Alamo or other companies on the island), otherwise you’ll spend more money in gasoline than for the rental itself (but we’re European not used to a 3.0 V6 Ford Taurus engines…).

We strongly suggest you to try the property if staying on Eleuthera, we’re already planning to be back and to spend more than a few days there.
