WOW WOW WOW!

My fiancé and stayed here in Jan. ’23 for 8 days/7 nights. It was THE PERFECT place to call our home for the trip. We loved being centrally located in the island so our day adventures to either the north or the south were never move than a 1.5hr drive at max. Galen and Kathy are wonderful people, so kind and generous, and FANTASTIC hosts. Galen even met us at the airport to make sure we got to his home! We were so lucky he was there because our rental car had a flat tire and after talking to the rental company he knew exactly where to take us to get it replaced. The rental is one of the most well stocked rentals we’ve ever been in. Everything to cook, do laundry, supplies for the beach (chairs, umbrellas, coolers, etc), comfy bed, it was super clean, etc. We LOVED the outdoor shower and just sun bathing somedays! You cannot go wrong with this place. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Oh, the sunrises are INCREDIBLE. You could actually watch it from the bed but we would sit out on the porch and meditate. Great way to start the day. Ryan Kenny

Superb rental

“Touch of Heaven” is one of the best vacation rentals on the island. We have stayed in numerous cottages in Eleuthera over the years and Galen and Cathy, your wonderful hosts, take care to ensure their guests have everything they need during their stay. Often it’s the details that set rentals apart- anything you need is at your fingertips, from the kitchen, grill, to beach supplies – the cottage has it all. The views are spectacular, the pool is great, and you have one of the best Atlantic beaches at the bottom of their road. It’s also a great central location to explore the island. Peace and serenity, truly a “Touch of Heaven.” Highly recommended!

Great stay

Stayed at Touch of Heaven for a week in June.  Weather was a little dicey but had a great time anyway.  The view from the cabin patio over the Atlantic is fantastic.  Galen and Kathy are wonderful hosts and were very helpful while we were their guests.  Some really fun restaurants in the area.  Beaches were virtually deserted…and close by.  Great time.

Wonderful week

Spent a week at Touch of Heaven…weather was pretty sketchy but we had a wonderful time there anyway.  Due to the storms we spent a lot of time on the patio…it was great!  Sea breezes made it wonderful and Galen’s anti mosquito system worked great.  Never got bothered by bugs at all.  Found several restaurants to enjoy and all were really good.  Overall, it was a great week.  Thanks to Galen and Kathy for their hospitality and facilities.

Beautiful destination!

What an amazing stay. The home is beautiful, situated at the top of a hill. The views and breezes were unbelievable. Our hosts Galen & Kathy were so warm and friendly. We got great advice on places to go and see. It was truly a Touch of Heaven!! Can’t wait to return….

Perfect place

We knew from day 1 that Touch of Heaven was going to be the perfect place for a very much needed vacay.  we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting or more incredible hospitality from you!  The directions, advice, beach & restaurant recommendations were all so helpful for our 1st visit to Eleuthera.

We loved the view, the stars, the pool, the privacy, the safety the convenience to outstanding beach walks and most especially, Blu.

Always sad to leave

We are always sad when a visit to Eleuthera comes to an end. (I’ve never figured out how the hours seem to pass with such leisure here, but the days seem to fly by anyway!) and this trip was no exception.

We have had a wonderful time!  The two of you have been so welcoming and friendly, we have felt right at home here from the first day.  Your home has been perfect for us, and has had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.  Thank you for being such helpful and accommodating hosts and for making this trip especially enjoyable.

WOW

WOW!  After multiple reschedules due to Covid we finally made it.  We don’t want to leave.  The meal suggestions, Covid test suggestions and the white binder made our first trip to Eleuthera a hit.

Splendid week

Staying at such a wonderful home, gazing upon the ocean after a day @ the beach was just what we needed.

Toque do Ceu

This is a 20yr in the making return for me.  I love that this time I had a chance to slow down and enjoy island time.

You “compound” lol… is quiet, panoramic, safe, providing & comfortable.

I love the pool 92 degrees, the friendly dogs and the meal we shared.  Remember breaking bread with another couple is a lost art.

Much respect to Kathy and to you Galen, never hesitating with manners of service.  Always checking on my wife and I.  Even though the “no-see-ums” put a damper on our last few days, Crystal & I will never forget the “Touch of Heaven” & Eleuthera…  Till next time!

This was our second time staying in Governor’s Harbor and we couldn’t have been more pleased! The house is brand new and first class all of the way – from the quality of the construction, the appliances, great cooking utensils, tv, dvds, cozy furniture, incredibly comfortable bed, egyptian cotton sheets, BBQ, non-toxic bug spray system, and back up generator. The house has everything that you could need and is clearly well cared for. Being the first renters, we expected there to be some inconveniences but there were none! In fact, we were so comfortable at the house that we did not do many of the things that we had planned on and spent most of our time staying there – enjoying the magnificent views of the ocean from the verandah and watching the cruise ships sail by!
The house is in a perfect location – just minutes away from the airport, close to the town of Governor’s Harbor and nearby many good restaurants. The highlight of Eleuthera though is the beaches and there is a beauty just a short walk from this home. We spent many hours walking for miles without seeing another person. It truly is heavenly!
Although the house speaks for itself, the highlight of this property is the owner! He is extremely friendly and sincerely wanted to ensure that we were happy and comfortable with both his home and the island. He provided us with all of the information that we needed and even went out of his way to greet us at the airport in Nassau. He also arranged for someone to meet us at the house to show us around – a very nice touch! He is more than happy to answer any and all questions and to provide excellent recommendations on things to see and do while in Eleuthera.
If you are thinking of visiting this lovely island, do not hesitate for a moment in renting this home. You will not be disappointed!

Galen and Kathy are some of the nicest possible hosts, the house and pool are terrific, and the central location is very convenient. Easy access to town and reasonable drives either north or south with excellent restaurants and beaches galore. 10 days was a perfect stay!

Very clean, comfortable, and well appointed

Galen and Kathy’s home was perfect for our stay. Very clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Location is central, so reaching beaches and other points of interest was easy. Galen and Kathy were very helpful and all of their recommendations were excellent.

While they do reside on the property, they were totally unobtrusive unless we needed them. Galen even assisted in changing a flat tire on our rental car.

While the closest beach is within walking distance, we were duly warned by Galen upon arriving that a restaurant had been opened there by a rather unsavory character.

We did visit the beach and while it was nice we were verbally accosted by the guy and did not feel comfortable being there. Since there are so many beaches within easy driving distance this was not a big issue for us. If you visit you will want a vehicle as well, so can easily avoid the problematic individual.

All in all a very relaxing vacation on a beautiful low key island.

My stay here was amazing

This place could not have been more aptly named; my stay here was amazing and it transformed what have been a good vacation into one that was simply exceptional.

As a woman traveling alone, I was nervous about renting a home as opposed to going to a resort, but Toque Do Ceu was such a good value when I compared other resort options on the island.

I made the best choice. Galen and Kathy were right next door and eager to make sure that I was always enjoying myself. (And they have two adorable Rhodesian Ridgebacks, really good boys, who enhanced my sense of safety.)

I loved that this rental was clothing optional as well. Although I hadn’t intended on running around naked so much, it was so enjoyable! There is nothing like stripping off your swimming suit after a long day at the beach, washing the sand off under the sun in the outdoor shower, and then taking a dip in the refreshing pool. (After awhile, running around without clothes is like watching movies with subtitles. You become immersed in the experience and forget that you don’t have a stitch of clothes on.)

The home itself is exceptional. Upscale appliances, comfortable and quality furniture, high-speed internet, reverse osmosis water, and a big, cozy bed that finally made the aching in my back disappear. (Next on the agenda at home: Buy a new mattress.) if nothing else gives you a sense of quality, the artwork consists of signed and numbered prints (in addition to Kathy’s own designs), including some antique etchings of San Francisco.

The location is optimal, as well. The views are spectacular and it’s an easy walk to Navy Beach. And one of the best, if not the best, beach on the Caribbean side is a five-minute drive away (if that).

I would highly recommend this vacation rental.

I cannot say enough about the location and our hosts

We have been visiting Eleuthera for many years and stayed at wonderful locations. However This is our favourite by far. Our hosts did not miss a thing. They ensured our rental car was at the airport and provided us with all the information we needed to make it a memorable stay. We had the freedom and privacy we needed to really relax. We enjoyed the beautiful view from our private deck. BBQ’ed and made several dinners in the well equipped kitchen.

Everything was top notch from the large bathroom to the comfortable bed, with hi speed internet, backup power, and drinkable water available, this location leaves you wanting for nothing. The location is close to several great beaches as well as Governors Harbour shops and restaurants. The pool was warm and inviting, the atmosphere relaxing just a perfect spot. Also the night sky had more stars the you could imagine possible.

I cannot say enough about the location and our hosts. Their cottage and attention to detail made this truly one of the most memorable trips we’ve had. There is little wonder why they named it “Touch of Heaven”. We are already planning our return trip.

The only negative is, it was very hard for us to leave such a great place. We would just like to say thank you so much for making this such a memorable vacation and for your hospitality.

The house is completely equipped for everything needed

We totally enjoyed our stay at this property and it was more amazing than we could have asked for. The owners made us feel welcome and were always available to help with any inquiries and suggestions on the property but also the beautiful island we were fortunate to visit. The outdoor shower was fantastic and a dip in the heated pool was always welcome after a day of exploring.

The house is completely equipped for everything needed if you are self catering including a outdoor grill to go along with the terrific view of the ocean. The property is near the Govenor’s Harbour airport which makes it a easy commute and it’s location in the middle of the island makes exploring to both the north and south ends effortless. Thank you Galen and Kathy for allowing us to stay at your Touch of Heaven.

Truly a Touch of Heaven – Hard to Leave

From the moment we booked until the day we left Galen was an outstanding host. His attention to detail from getting from Nassau to Eleuthera (directions navigating airport) to greeting us at Governors Harbor Airport with our rental car agent and personally getting us to the house was seamless. Upon arriving at the house we knew we couldn’t have made a better choice from the exquisite views to the upscale appointments of the home. It truly felt like a home and not a rental.

Abundantly equipped with everything we needed and more. Very cozy and inviting. Loved the outdoor shower. We enjoyed coffee on the deck every morning with the sound and view of the ocean and the tropical landscape. The sunrise was amazing!
Just down the hill about 5 minutes was a beautiful stretch of beach on the Atlantic side that we enjoyed walking on for miles.

There was a well detailed book that Galen made with many maps and directions to everything from beaches to restaurants that was very helpful. We enjoyed cooking in and barbecuing nightly with a cocktail to wind down the well explored day. So many exquisite beached to explore.

Watching the sunset at Cocodimama just one mile away on the Caribbean side was a great way to end a perfect day.

Galen’s home was perfect in every way and we highly recommend it!

We will be back!!

Wonderfull location and stay!

Galen and Kathy have the most beautiful place here! located very nice and so private and secluded. The pool is just amazing and helps with warm days to take a dip in it!

AMAZING! Absolutely AMAZING!

The house lives up to it name – A Touch of Heaven! It had everything you would ever need or want while on vacation! The view was breathtaking and our hosts made sure everything exceeded our expectations.

They provided information on the island and the beaches that made exploring very easy. We explored a different beach everyday of our trip and we are already making plans to return!

The views are amazing and the house is well equipped

My wife and I just returned from a week stay at Touch of Heaven. Dealing with Galen made the whole experience very easy. Great communication from beginning to end. We arrived early at the airport in Nassau and Galen was there to meet us. We were able to get an earlier flight to Eleuthera and the property. Galen made calls to his property manager and the rental car company to let them know we would be arriving earlier. They were there to meet us at the Governors Harbour airport and we were able to start our stay sooner.

The property is like many others described. The views are amazing and the house is well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing vacation. The house is comfortable and clean. The pool and deck also had views that are stunning. It is nice to stay at a property that offers complete privacy and to be able to take a nude swim in the pool and shower off in the outdoor shower. I don’t think I wore a stitch of clothes the majority of the time.

The beach located closest to the house is beautiful and quiet. We did not see one other person on the beach as we walked north. I was even daring enough to go au natural on the beach. It truly was an amazing feeling and a first for me.

It was our first trip to Eleuthera and we were fortunate enough to find this property. It was truly an amazing vacation and Touch of Heaven made it more special.

The island is quite lovely and interesting. Galen is splendid to deal with and very helpful. He truly wants you to enjoy your stay. The home is well stocked and equipped with useful items like coolers and chairs as other reviews have detailed. Michele is an informative and friendly manager. A car is needed to see the beaches that you’ll want to see.

The home is well designed. The morning sun comes through to the bedroom and the breeze makes the deck a delight. The home is about 5 miles from the airport and about the same to Governor’s Harbor. A nice wine shop in town. Get your fresh grouper at the dock/table near the police station at the intersection. We met some very nice people on this island. Tammy’s Place was great for lunch.

Beautiful place, perfect location!

A truly beautiful little secret in Central Eleuthera.

Literally minutes from the airport, and minutes from Governor’s Harbour, but still hidden away in its own little paradise, ‘Touch of Heaven’ is in a really great spot, making it easy to get around (not that you’ll want to ever leave!)

The house itself is fitted out perfectly with all ‘mod-cons’, and the deck outside makes for a true island feel – I sat there enjoying the stunning view of the ocean!

The house has its own pool, and you can take a two minute stroll to what feels like your own personal miles-long white sand beach.

Can’t say enough good things – the owners are awesome, the place is perfect and Eleuthera is wonderful!

Will definitely return!

Enough cannot be said of Galen and Kathy’s hospitality

My wife and I stayed at Touch of Heaven from March 17 – 31, 2018. This was by far the best property my wife and I have stayed at in the 15 years of going to Eleuthera. The pictures Galen has posted really cannot due justice.

The house is impeccable and the extra amenities not seen at any other locations we have stayed at were a very very welcome bonus! Such as, automatic daily insect sprayers (we never saw the dreaded “No-See-Ems”), HOT and cold outdoor shower (so nice to stand outside nude for a refreshing shower), and especially the propane fed generator. Eleuthera will always have power outages, sometime for hours, at Touch of Heaven, this is never a concern.

Galen and Kathy have thought of everything, the kitchen is very well stocked and having a full size washer and dryer comes in very handy. The bed is extremely comfortable as is the living room furniture. The outdoor patio furniture is “first class” and fits perfectly under a covered deck. In reality you have 2 other decks besides the covered one. Perfect for laying nude to catch a “no tan line” tan. One of the deck encompassing a very nice pool with no swimsuit required!

For the naturist this is the perfect location! The house is securely private with no one able to see into the property! Clothes will only be needed when exploring the island, shopping or dining out!

Galen and Kathy have built their retirement home on the property, but since they go sans clothing, there are no issues! I highly recommend checking this location out. Just don’t do it when we want to go!

Perfect Vacation Home

We have found our perfect house for a get-away-from-it-all vacation. This was our second time there, and we enjoyed it every bit as much as the first time. A Touch of Heaven is a wonderful house, and a wonderful second home for Galen and Kathy Johnston, our gracious hosts. It was built for the owners and not as a rental unit, so the furniture and accessories, from utensils to dishes to the TV and beautiful granite countertops are high quality. Ceiling fans and air conditioning make the house pleasant in any weather.

The house is very private, but not remote.

Neighbours are out of sight or farther, and virtually no one uses the cute side street, (that is protected by greenery), on which it is located. It is built on a hillside, with views of magnificent sunrises, and a magnificent 180-degree view of the Atlantic Ocean, .

The decks surround the house, with both sunny and covered shady areas, so we could enjoy the outside whatever the weather conditions.

The outside shower is private and so invigorating, and it keeps the house free of sand.

Two beautiful and secluded beaches are a short walking distance from A Touch of Heaven. Both are very well suited for swimming and snorkelling. Clothing can be optional.

Governor’s Harbour is about a ten-minute drive, and offers shopping for food, clothing, and gifts. Banks are available in town. We are very picky about eating out, and we found a few good restaurants close by, some recommended by Galen. French Leave is an excellent high-end choice, Tippy’s is good, fun, and overlooks yet another beautiful beach.

For fresh produce and bread, try Island Farm, about a five-minute drive south from town, on the right side.

We have rented other houses and apartments in our travels, but none comes close to A Touch of Heaven. When we are there we feel like we are home.

Spectacular Home!

We spent one fantastic week at Touch of Heaven! The owner is wonderful to work with, and has put a level of care and thought into his home that is probably unmatched on the island. We were so impressed with the quality of the home and its furnishings. From the furniture, to the bedding and towels, to the fixtures, to things like the water purification system and anti-bug system, even simple things like beach and deck chairs — all of it is top flight and designed for maximum comfort.

The deck is really amazing — sun when you want it, shade when you need a break, very comfortable high quality furniture — we literally spent hours on it each day. One of our highlights was a private yoga lesson on the deck overlooking the ocean.

The beach near the house is (like most of the island’s beaches) just gorgeous and perfect for long walks. The house is in a great location, with very easy access (over paved roads! what a luxury) into Governor’s Harbor to the south, and other points to the north. I would love the opportunity to stay here again, and can’t say enough great things about it!

30th Anniversary Celebration

After much comparison and deliberation of properties, having never been to Eleuthera before, we settled on Touch of Heaven. We made the best choice!

The property is exactly as described. It is spotless on the inside and what beautiful views from the deck. The house is equipped with everything you need, nice beach chairs, a cooler, floats, snorkel equipment, etc., not to mention the well-equipped kitchen. We ate out some, but also grilled burgers at the house.

We ate at the Beach House for our anniversary (very good food and atmosphere – pricey, but all food on the island is), The Deck for burgers one night (can’t beat the view of the Atlantic here and the food was awesome, although the owner was drunk, which we now know can be a regular occurrence so be prepared if you go there), and also tried Da Perk (had an eggplant meatball sandwich that was awesome, owners very kind, and very clean, nice little cafe to eat in with reasonable pricing).

The location of the house is pretty central on the island, so we traveled from one end to the other exploring Harbor Island, as well as Lighthouse Beach. Lighthouse Beach was a last minute decision on our last day staying here and it was the most beautiful place on earth we had ever seen. The drive is do-able in an SUV-type vehicle or Jeep, although we did encounter a young couple there who had their small car stuck in the sand and some locals came to get them out, which took hours, so be careful where you park! We left early, took our time, and stayed the day with plenty of food and water in our cooler.

Definitely see Lighthouse Beach if you’re able. You won’t regret it. We also walked the beach close to the house, but we spent most of our days at Ten Bay Beach. On our anniversary, we were literally the only people on that beach. It was so beautiful, clear, calm water, just like swimming in a saltwater pool at home, but with amazing tropical scenery and views! It was our favorite beach that was close to us. We also kayaked there and snorkeled a bit.

Every night, we came back to Touch of Heaven, sat out on the deck (which was amazing because we never got bitten by bugs there and it really extended our days to be able to sit out at night), and we would just look at the stars in amazement at how many there were and how bright they were.

The entire vacation was so special and a dream come true for us. Every day and night, we were in awe of the beauty of what God has created and blessed us with, much of which we never see.

50th Birthday celebration retreat

First, apologies to Galen for the delay in writing this review. I also write it with mixed emotions because I am afraid that it I tell everyone what a spectacular piece of paradise “Touch of Heaven” is, it might make it difficult to get back if everyone get’s wind of this.

From our first contact with Galen to arrange to come to Eleuthera, till the time we left this vacation was simple, easy and enjoyable. “Touch of Heaven” is just that. Galen has thought of everything. There is only the sound of the ocean and the songbirds as you sit outside enjoying the vistas. If Galen wasn’t doing everything he could for us, then Michelle was there to assist us on the island.

If you are looking for exciting night life and wild beach parties……go somewhere else. This is not for you. But if you are looking to get off grid, relax in one of the finest places we have ever had the pleasure to stay, re-connect with each other……you need to come to Touch of Heaven.

Hilltop Paradise Aptly Named

I had a list of rather strict requirements as I looked for the perfect place to take my fiance for a surprise birthday getaway. I wanted to find somewhere close to south Florida, but felt like somewhere far away (1 hour direct flight). A place to decompress and relax after the stressful year she’s had. A place that was remote, but contained all the comforts of home (A/C, Internet, Direct TV, etc).

I was originally searching Bimini, cause I’d heard of that, but I wasn’t finding the right mix there. I started looking further out, but wanted to stay away from Nassau and the more popular obvious choices. I’d never heard of Eleuthera before I started searching here, but as I looked at hundreds of places and the corresponding pictures, I knew this island was special.

I had been looking at house rentals for a couple weeks before I found “Touch of heaven”, and I knew right away my search was over. It’s located right in the middle of the island, 3 minutes from the airport!!! Michele and Victor met us with our rental car and took us to the house, it was celebrity treatment. The views from the house are amazing. We spent an entire day just chilling on the deck. I was worried about bugs initially, but never got bit on that deck. Amazing. At night we laid on the lounges and looked up at the sky. You can see EVERY SINGLE STAR!! It was beautiful, and very romantic. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed.

If you come to Governors Harbor, you must, MUST, go to the Beach House. It is absolutely perfect, in every way, food, ambiance, service. We ate there 3 times and spent the day at the beach out front.

Sky Beach Club was our second favorite place. Spent the day by their pool and enjoyed the food and drinks. Although Tippy’s was recommended, we weren’t impressed, and would have eaten at Beach House again if it had been open.

I am so glad I chose Touch of Heaven and Eleuthera. We will be back. I highly recommend!

Our Second Stay

The week spent at Touch of Heaven was our second visit to the house which is exactly as advertised. Galen is an excellent host, not only making the rental process easy and efficient, but also taking considerable time to find the kind of rental vehicle we wanted this year for exploring some of the more remote parts of Eleuthera. He even greeted us personally at the airport in Nassau prior to our flight to Eleuthera. The weather this year was perfect for the beach right at the house. The wind and surf on the Atlantic side were very gentle all week so swimming and snorkeling on the Atlantic side were quite ideal. Walking the full 3 mile length of Airport Beach from just down the hill from the house remains a highlight. We never saw more than one or two others. A bathing suit is only needed if you want it.

Having spent a week at Touch of Heaven a year ago, we knew how well equipped the house is. Everything one might want for living in the house and spending days on the beaches is provided. We only brought what we wanted to read and the few clothes needed for island life. We only used the latter when we went to Town.

We particularly recommend the Island Farm fruit and vegetable stand located on the Queen’s Highway a few miles south of Governour’s Harbor. Excellent produce and fresh baked goods.

For those looking for a well equipped, very quiet, private spot to enjoy the outdoor life of the Bahamas, this is it. The only sounds are the breeze, the birds, the ocean, and your own conversation.

Touch of Magic

The best ever vacation rental . Everything we could have wished for was on site. A spotless well maintained cottage. It was even better than the description given on the web site.

Galen the owner advised us as on taxi bookings in Nassau and he even assisted in the booking of car hire on Eleuthera. The help and advice we had from Galen was second to none and he and his wife answered all our questions which made the vacation so special and totally stress free.

The cottage is exactly as described regarding the views of the Atlantic ocean that take your breath away.

The peace and tranquility were just what my wife and myself required and we arrived back home in Scotlnd feeling totally rejuvenated.

I can recomend this property for those requiring total privacy where clothes are an option not a necessity. The only noise is from the ocean the wind and the bird song.

I enjoy cooking and we ate in most of the time so I cannot really coment on the areas restaurants. I will only say you would have to drive as there are none within walking distance.

To my wife and myself it was a trully magical place and many thanks to Galen for making the vacation so special.

Great Name for this House “Touch of Heaven”

First we were met at the airport by Michele the property manager who was so nice. How refreshing to be met by a smiling face welcoming us there. The rental car was waiting on us at the airport and before you know it we were off to the house.

The house is exactly as Galen the owner has it described, which was great. The inside was like new and the outside with all its wrap around decking was out of this world. He has a insect sprayer that sprays the entire porch areas several times a day. We hardly seen a fly much less any other insects. No other place we look at had this. The house is pretty secluded so we didn’t have to be on guard about clothes on or off. The outside shower has hot and cold water and was great! We found the house to be furnished with everything you would need period!

As anyone that has been to eleuthra knows the power can go off pretty easy. Galen installed a generator that if the power goes off it cuts on. On Sunday as it stormed most the day we found this to be a wonderful addition to the house. It runs everything in the house until the power is back on. This is a WOW factor.

Galen called and checked on us several times during the week which was welcomed. Nice to know the owner wants everything to be great while you are there.

If there is a down side to this wonderful place is that it doesn’t sit right on the beach. Its about 1/4 mile but since we had the rental car which anyone that comes to this island will need, it really isn’t that big a deal. We put all the beach chairs, mats, umbrella that was already furnished in the car and drove down. the good thing is that you have a road that goes to a great parking place so you can walk right down a cut path and on to one of the prettiest beaches one could ever want. Once on the beach to our left it was 3 miles to the next house. On our right a large corel reef seperated the next beach and the houses on that side. We went to the beach 6 or the 7 days and only saw 1 person come by us jogging, and a couple of days someone in a boat around on the other side the reefs. The sand is really pink and the water amazing!

We really hated to leave this wonderful place, it was just what the doctor ordered!

We Died and Went to Heaven

We thought we died and went to heaven. Well we actually didn’t died, but we did go to “A Touch of Heaven”. for 2 wonderful weeks. What a beautiful place to stay. Imagine a house with a wraparound deck sitting up on a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and you’re wearing or not wearing a swimsuit with a cold drink in your hand.

The beach north of the house you can walk for three miles without seeing a house or anyone. Well, take that back. Out of the two weeks, one day we saw a man and his dog. Other than that the beach was ours to do whatever. If you want privacy, quietness, and no tan lines this is the place to go. Galen was easy to deal with and will answer all your questions and concerns.

I could go on about the house and enmities however, what is listed on this site is accurate and complete. You won’t go without, unless it’s clothes. Do rent a car, we use Naaman Rolle, because you will want to tour the island and stop at some of the local restaurants and bars and of course pick up some food and beverages. It’s vacation so just relax, enjoy the view, enjoy the quietness and especially enjoy being with your loved one.

Thanks again for letting us stay at your home away from home. We’ll be back!

Touch of Heaven

As first time renters through VRBO we were amazed at how well everything went. The house and it’s location were awesome. All we really needed to bring was clothes and money as everything else is provided at the house. We had a great week and hope to return again.

We had a delightful week

Touch of Heaven is very well designed, built, equipped, and maintained. Caretaker was most efficient. We had a delightful week enjoying the house and its environs. With the wrap around porch, with both covered and uncovered spaces one could find just the right temperature and amount of sun desired at any hour of the day. The breeze off the Atlantic kept one portion pleasantly cool all of the time in March.

The amenities in the house are excellent. It is a perfect place for a couple and possible guests (on the pull-out sofa).

It is a very short walk to the beach on which one can walk for three miles before coming to the next house. We hardly saw another soul there. While there are a few other houses in the neighborhood, we were virtually unaware of their presence. The drive to so many other beaches and to the village of Governor’s Harbor is very easy.

The landlord was particularly helpful making all the arrangements for the use of the house as well as a rental car.

Fabulous place for those looking for quiet, very private, place for relaxed R and R.

Galen’s home is all about the views of the Atlantic, the very comfortable bed, and the fact that he has seen to every detail.

The price is reasonable and Galen is a superb communicator.

We felt “at home” immediately

I doubt that you could find a nicer house for a couple anywhere on Eleuthera. My wife and I spent two weeks at the aptly named “Touch of Heaven”, Galen Johnston’s house just north of Governor’s Harbor in central Eleuthera.

While the house is not right on the beach, it is on a hill with a beautiful overlook of the Atlantic from the patio. And what a patio! Like all the aspects of this house, the patio is perfectly designed and appointed for comfort and ease. Where else can you find a built-in, automatic, insecticide spray system that periodically puffs fine mists to keep the mosquitoes and no-see-ums away? We were never bothered by these voracious biters.

Other unusual touches such as a back-up generator (which helped us several times during power outages), and a water purification system that ensures you have plenty of drinkable water, make this house stand out. The house is beautiful. The furnishings are top quality, blending style, comfort, and durability. You are provided plenty of everything: towels, dishes, cooking and eating utensils — and they are all top quality.

Air conditioning, a nice TV with HD satellite connection and DVR capability and also a DVD player; WiFi for high-speed Internet. The house has it all. Drive down the paved road (if you have not been to Eleuthera before, paved roads are a rarity) a minute to a lovely beach. The drive to the town of Governor’s Harbor is less than ten minutes.

We felt “at home” immediately, and that feeling lasted throughout our time at this wonderful vacation. We look forward to returning to Eleuthera, and Touch of Heaven.

Magic Island – Wonderful House

We couldn’t have been more pleased!

This was our second time staying in Governor’s Harbor and we couldn’t have been more pleased! The house is brand new and first class all of the way – from the quality of the construction, the appliances, great cooking utensils, tv, dvds, cozy furniture, incredibly comfortable bed, egyptian cotton sheets, BBQ, non-toxic bug spray system, and back up generator. The house has everything that you could need and is clearly well cared for. Being the first renters, we expected there to be some inconveniences but there were none! In fact, we were so comfortable at the house that we did not do many of the things that we had planned on and spent most of our time staying there – enjoying the magnificent views of the ocean from the verandah and watching the cruise ships sail by!

The house is in a perfect location – just minutes away from the airport, close to the town of Governor’s Harbor and nearby many good restaurants. The highlight of Eleuthera though is the beaches and there is a beauty just a short walk from this home. We spent many hours walking for miles without seeing another person. It truly is heavenly!

Although the house speaks for itself, the highlight of this property is the owner! He is extremely friendly and sincerely wanted to ensure that we were happy and comfortable with both his home and the island. He provided us with all of the information that we needed and even went out of his way to greet us at the airport in Nassau. He also arranged for someone to meet us at the house to show us around – a very nice touch! He is more than happy to answer any and all questions and to provide excellent recommendations on things to see and do while in Eleuthera.

If you are thinking of visiting this lovely island, do not hesitate for a moment in renting this home. You will not be disappointed!
